There are more and more authors and more and more works. If you want to stand out in the vast ocean of authors, it is a necessary prerequisite to have excellent works.
Diligent authors are doing many things, honing their writing skills, collecting creative materials, and forging their new will.
The author's efforts are presented through works, some of which are chaotic, some cliché, some wonderful and moving, and some stunning.
1. Bad Stories
The protagonist is unclear. The three elements of a novel are characters, plot, and environment. The characters come first, and the protagonist is the first character. The status of the protagonist of the online novel is even more detached, that is, the incarnation of thousands of readers. If the first character is not clear, readers will not be able to find the object of empathy, and it will be difficult to have emotional resonance.
The characterization is superficial and does not reveal the character of the character. Literature is the art of meddling with human nature. If there is no insight into the inner world of the characters and the social environment in which they live, it will be difficult for the stories written to accurately reveal the characters' personalities, and readers will not be able to understand the characters in depth, and they will not be able to enter into them. The inner world of the characters, as a result, isolates the reader from the characters, causing the story to lose its readers.
The main plot is difficult to justify, and the plot is driven by a lot of coincidence. This kind of approach is criticized. Readers will think that the author is exhausted and can only use brutal methods to torture and help characters, such as: an inexplicable car accident, after breaking up for many years, but it happens by chance, falling off a cliff and entering the cave to get the inheritance of the predecessors . It cannot be justified, the motives of the characters lack convincing. As long as the author is not embarrassed, the embarrassment is the reader, but the absence of the reader is the author's greatest embarrassment.
Subplots are woven rough and loose. Even subplots should have a meaning, even if the meaning is small, don't write a really trivial plot. The meaning of the plot is always revealing the truth of the story, it can be a certain point of the protagonist's character, it can be the subconsciousness revealed by the protagonist, or it can be a foreshadowing of the subsequent development of the plot.
A lot of clichés are spliced together, mixed with a lot of mysteries. The author bluntly pieced together those predictable, poorly narrated, and rotten fragments, and uncontrolledly inlaid those unreasonable, deliberately unspoken, and pretending metaphors, leaving readers in a daze. State, obviously know every word, but do not understand what the author wants to say. This simmering phenomenon reveals the author's greed for performance and the lazy nature of the author's thinking.
2. Excellent story
It is gripping from the beginning, and the subsequent plot is meticulous and orderly. The first key event creates an abrupt climax from which radiates a beautiful web of main and subplots, each of which has meaning and cannot be omitted.
The characters are profound, and the way of revealing them is natural and tense. The author has an amazing insight into society, takes causal logic seriously, and humorously handles readers' psychological expectations and contrasts.
The climax of the story lives up to its name and is heart-wrenching. The plot that can be called the climax must be the highlight moment of the story. The core conflict and a series of conflicts must be resolved through the climax. Conflicts are contradictions. Going to the destination of their respective destiny, the story comes to an end after that.
In the ashes at the end of the story, there is an unexpected and reasonable ending. The story is relatively true. The author is weaving lies from the very beginning, hiding a series of truths waiting to be revealed. Premature disclosure will make people boring and uninteresting. The revelation best happens at the end.
3. Creation tasks
Finding the answers to the big questions below and building them into stories is the author's creative task.
Who are the characters? There is no doubt that the story unfolds through the protagonist, and many characters appear one after another. The reader sees the whole world through one character, and has insight into the darkness and brilliance of human nature.
What does the character want? Every character has desire, desire is what they want, desire itself is a neutral word, and a more unambiguous word is vision.
Why do characters want to? I hate the argument that "existence is reasonable", but I admire the idea of "there must be a reason for what happens", and ask a few more whys. The logic of cause and effect is the logic that readers value most and agree with the most. Sometimes readers think that the plot is too outrageous, maybe not because of the author's design, but because the author owes the reader an explanation. An intriguing story always hides many hints from the author, making readers full of associations.
What method does the character use to achieve desire? Story is also the art of time. Movement is the most basic requirement. Character initiation is the force that drives the story. The natural force drives the accident, not the story. Authors create stories through the actions of characters, often pushing characters into difficult choices, choosing in extreme cases the means of fulfilling their desires.
What will stop them? What the characters want, the writer can't have them at their fingertips, and neither does the reader. The author needs to set obstacles for the characters, and the characters always have to pass through many obstacles in order to get the ending of pursuing desire. It is worth mentioning that the obstacles that the protagonist needs to pass through are the most complex and the most dimensional.
What is the ending? The desires of the characters may not be realized, and the ending may not be successful. There are many people who die before their ambitions are paid, but the ending of the characters should be complete, and the author should give a character a complete destiny. What is a complete destiny, that is, the character's desires will undergo a qualitative change at the end of the destiny.
4. The story lasts
The author's creative task is the inner form of the story. The form is universal. There are various stories in the world, but the inner form is the same.
The inner form of a story is not a universal formula for a story. Form reveals the essence, formula is the summary of the law, the former emphasizes what the story is, and the latter is the template for creating the story.
When the writer finishes telling the story, the story should come to an abrupt end.
For online novels, the number of words in the story is extremely large. If the novel can bring satisfactory income, and if the author has the strength to write it, then the novel should not be left without stories and fall into uncontrolled repetition.
The repetition of the story is to reveal the truth of the same story again, which can barely be regarded as strengthening the truth, but blind repetition is ugly.
If the author wants the story to have vitality, that is to continue the creative work and complete the creative task to get the story.
